Though there are so many hotels offered within Providence, we took a fancy to this unique and chic hotel; the NYLO Warwick. This hotel was easily accessible by taxi and by car. It brought the beauty of the Pawtucket River to our ‘back door’ and allowed for a nice quiet escape from the city when we were done touring. As we were not in town for long, we did not venture to use the local RIPTA buses; but were told they were simple to use. A quick note however – if you are taking a taxi, you must use the same company to return back to the hotel or else you will be met with larger taxi fees than you’d expect. We chose to try Uber and were pleased with the service we received. It was easier than finding parking downtown, due to the crowds of people that flocked to Providence for WaterFire. This hotel was also in a great location to branch out and explore more of what Rhode Island has to offer. Take a moment to check out our other blog posts on Providence.
The NYLO is a renovated industrial building that offers loft accommodation styles along with nautical themes. We were quite ‘taken’ with the hanging chairs in the lobby situated around a book lending library!
The halls are adorned with local artwork, the rooms are uniquely designed and they are known for the most comfortable beds; we have to admit that we slept really well! The staff at NYLO were accommodating and helpful and the food was quite delicious.
We enjoyed their seafood options at dinner and their Sunday morning buffet while basking in the beautiful view of the calming river. Even with a road nearby, the flow of the river was captivating and blocked out the noises of the world around you!
Now, typically most hotel stays are quite “uneventful”; which is a good thing. However, the true test of a hotel’s greatness is how they handle the situation when an issue does actually occur. We unfortunately had some difficulty with our plumbing due to a backed up drain which resulted in a flooding shower and quite the unpleasant smell. The staff quickly came to our need, sent workers in while we were out and followed up with us after we arrived back to the hotel. The issue was thought to be resolved, but at midnight, it reoccurred. Again, staff and management were responsive and this major issue resulted in the need for a room change. We were upgraded significantly to a business suite and were offered dinner in their restaurant the following night.
Though the timing and arrival of a plumbing issue was not in their control, NYLO staff went above and beyond to ensure that the issue didn’t interfere with our stay!
We give this hotel a “TWO THUMBS UP” and would love to visit their other locations.
