Treetop Trekking – Barrie location
We recently participated at the location in Barrie. It took approximately five minutes to walk to the ‘trek site’ from the parking lot. The site was located in a very beautiful and luscious forest, with a cabin occupied by helpful staff and the convenience of washrooms. Everything you need for a successful day will be provided to you. Though I strongly recommend purchasing some gloves before you head out, it will save you from countless blisters. If you are feeling extra adventurous, you can purchase add-ons to you adventure such as a giant zip line and bungee jump.
The site has six colour-coded courses, the final 2 being restricted to older ages due to its size and challenge. The courses take roughly 15-30 minutes each to go through, not accounting for the wait time that may happen at the start of your climb. Each course is a blast to go through and your family is sure to love it. A great thing about having multiple courses with increasing difficulties is that it builds your confidence and shows you your limits. We spent roughly 3-4 hours at Treetop Trekking and not a minute was wasted lollygagging. The staggered start times for training are helpful and wait times to climb the first ladder are not too bad.
Before going, I was wary since I had previously tried and failed at a similar activity. Thankfully, due to the nature and design of the course, my fears were put to ease and I was having the time of my life. I highly recommend this as a family destination, and while the minimum age to go is 9 years old, I recommend bringing a 12 year old since it allows them entry to the higher levelled courses. If you ever wanted to try something daring, swing through the trees and walk on wires all without the worry of danger, then Treetop Trekking is the place to go! The “TreeTop” staff are amazing and will help you with all your needs; you’ll be a confident climber in no time!
